The method involves determining the supply period depending on a pressure ratio between a combustion chamber gas pressure and a fuel pressure. The supply period is corrected by a correction factor during the supply of the gaseous fuel directly into the combustion chamber of a combustion engine. The correction factor is dependent on orifice coefficient. The orifice-coefficient dependent correction factor corrects a crank shaft angle sub-difference, in which a subcritical flow of the gaseous fuel develops. An independent claim is included for a device for determining a supply period of a gaseous fuel into a combustion engine during a direct supply.
