The device has a belt bringing element which moves a seat belt from a storage position into a presentation position. A drive motor is driven by the movement of the belt bringing element. A primary rack is directly or indirectly communicated to the drive motor, so that drive gear (10) is displaced along a sliding movement. A secondary rack is moved relative to the belt bringing element and the primary rack, when a sliding movement of the primary rack is performed. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) drive device; and (2) method for moving belt bringing element.
