The hydrostatic axial piston machine (1) comprises an adjustment unit (20) for adjusting the swivel angle of a swiveling cradle (4), at which a counter piston (24) of a counter cylinder (22) or a setting piston (40) of an actuating cylinder (38) is engaged. Multiple pistons (14) are provided, which are guided in a cylinder drum (12) operatively connected with a driving shaft (2) and directly or indirectly rest against the swiveling cradle. A discharge field sided discharge fluid path enforcing the counter piston opens offset towards the drive shaft against a counter piston axis.
