The heater (10) has a hot water tank (14), an electrical heating device (16), a temperature sensor (18) and a regulating device (20) for controlling temperature of water present in the water tank. The water tank comprises drainage channel (22) that completely passes through the water tank from an upper side (26) till to a lower side (28). A sensor channel (24) for accommodating the sensor runs parallel to the drainage channel. Fins are formed in an area of the upper side and/or in an area of the lower side of the water tank, where the water tank is made from thermoplastic material.
