The pistons (1a) has a piston head (7) that is integrated into combustion chamber recess (8). The lower portion (3a) is provided with two diametrically opposed holes (11) for receiving piston pin. The joining zones (6a,6b) are provided for integrally connecting upper portions (2a) and lower portion. A ring zone (10) is provided to receive spaced piston rings. An annulus element (5) is positioned between upper and lower portions. The annulus element is connected with upper and lower portions over joining zones through orbital friction welding. An independent claim is included for method for manufacturing piston of internal combustion engine.
