The method involves setting the control valves (1.6,1.7) and monitoring minimum amounts of inert gas in oxygen and fuel gas channels of an ignition and pilot burner (2.1) by the measuring devices (F16,F17). The fuel gas and oxygen supply to burner are shut-off by closing control valves (1.1,1.2) according to the reach of minimum amounts of inert gas in oxygen and fuel gas channels. The gasification reactor is operated with shut-off burner, and the fuel gas and oxygen channels are flushed with inert gas. The inter gas is formed of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapor or mixture.
