The apparatus has a compensating unit (10) that is partly provided for leveling the vibration generated by an impact mechanism (12). An absorber mass (16) is movably mounted on the compensating unit. A sensor unit (14) is provided for detection of a characteristic variable at a portion of the compensation unit. The sensor unit is partially intended to detect the amplitude of the absorber mass. An evaluation unit (20) is provided for evaluation of the information signal of the sensor unit. A control unit (22) is partially connected to the sensor unit.
