The method involves displaying group of functions in a first region (2) of a touch-sensitive display (1). A wiping sensor input is recognized in the first region of the display. The group of functions is selected based on recognization of the wiping sensor input and property of the wiping sensor input. A user interface is used for selection of a setting for selected function in a second region (3) of the display. A user input for the user interface is received. Setting to the user input is assigned. The assigned setting for the function is selected. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for operator input (2) a computer program has a set of instructions for selecting a setting.
