The system has an envelope (1) that is comprised of a envelope feeder which is fixed to a book block (2) with an adhesive binder, such that a hardcover envelope and a softcover envelope are created in two different operating modes. The feeder is switched between the operating modes, by a manually or automatically controllable unit depending on a type of an input portion (3a) supplied to the envelope. The input portion is connected to an output of the envelope feeder and/or a digital printing machine.
