The motor car comprises a water collection device (20) with a water collection tray (44) arranged at the front side of a rotatable profile (40) mounted in a recess (36) of the A-shaped pillar (4). The water collection device is switched to operative position by rotating the profile such that the front side of profile projects opposite to outer contour (12) of A-shaped pillar. The water collection device is switched to resting position by rotating the profile such that back side (58) of profile is flush with the outer contour of the pillar. An independent claim is included for method for control of water collection device for motor car.
