The axial piston machine (10) has drive shaft (40) supported in housing (20) with respect to rotation axis (41). A cylinder drum (60) is rotatably mounted with respect to rotation axis (61), and provided with cylindrical bore (62) in which an elongated piston (80) is received. The brake plates (90) are arranged to annularly surround the drive shaft, and are engaged in housing in a form-fitting manner. A brake disc (91) is arranged between two adjacent brake plates to surround the drive shaft and engaged in peripheral surface (47) of flange (46) of drive shaft.
