The axial bearing has two magnet rings (11a,11b) and individual magnets inserted in a bearing ring. The magnetic rings and the individual magnets have the same polarity on the sides facing each other. The magnet rings or the bearing ring is surrounded by a metal sheath. The latter magnet ring and the bearing ring rest at a cam thrust surface (12a) of the cam shaft (4).
