The pump comprises a pump housing that comprises a drive wheel which is mounted on a drive shaft. An impeller is attached at one end of the pump housing, through which a cooling medium flows. The pump housing is driven directly with the exhaust pressure in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine by the drive wheel. The drive wheel is arranged at an exhaust or intake manifold or an end tip within the exhaust system of the engine. A transmission or a flexible shaft is connected to the impeller and is arranged in the exhaust system.
