The method involves applying conductive paste (17) containing silver, gold or copper particles by an inkjet process locally on a predetermined region of a surface of a transparent conductive layer (9) on the front side of a solar cell (1). The applied conductive paste is dried at a predetermined temperature, and a sintering is carried out by a laser radiation. A metal interconnect is formed on the surface of the solar cell by the local application of the conductive paste and by sintering with the laser radiation.
