The powertrain has an exhaust-gas turbine (22) and a fresh-air compressor (24) connected to a drive shaft (2) of an internal combustion engine (1) through a continuously variable transmission (16), where a hydrodynamic clutch (8) is provided between the drive shaft and the transmission. The clutch includes a bladed primary wheel (10) and a bladed secondary wheel (7) together forming a torus-shaped working chamber. A speed translator (28) is provided between a transmission output (15) and the primary wheel, so that the primary wheel rotates with a greater speed as the transmission output.
