The blocking system (1) has a clutch (10) that is opened over a hydraulic pressure line (4). A switching cable (5) and a selecting cable (6) are provided for transmitting the switching and/or selecting movements of a gear shift lever (2) to a gearbox (7) of a motor car (3). The blocking units are hydraulically connected with the pressure line, and are arranged at the switching cable and the selecting cable in order to mechanically lock the opening of the clutch. An independent claim is included for a method for blocking and releasing gear shift lever of motor car.
