The method involves using sensors for detecting fault gases that are identified in the area of gas cushion, and a measuring system for diagnosing, protecting and monitoring the transformer. The gases are provided at the appropriate location in the gas cushion. The detected fault gases are identified with a system, and exploited for diagnosis, monitoring and protection of the transformer. The fault gas is determined by the gas pressure and the amount of gas from the dissolved gases. The data is transferred through Internet or short message service.
