The cooking apparatus (1) has a base (2) and a door (3) which is rotatably mounted at the base. A locking device is provided for closing the cooking chamber and equipped with a locking stop and a latch which is engaged behind the locking stop. The locking device has an actuating element which moves the door between a partial locking position in which the latch already engages behind the door to partly close the cooing chamber, and a full locking position in which the cooking chamber is completely closed.
