The crankshaft (10) has a drive wheel (11), which is provided for diverting a moment. The drive wheel has material defects (12,13,14) provided for weight reduction, where the material defect is formed as a counterweight. The material defect is formed independently by a power fault. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an internal combustion engine with a balancing system; and (2) a method for manufacturing a crankshaft.
