The method involves determining first clamp resistor of an electrochemical energy store (1) in first charge state. Charge state of the energy store is changed. Second clamp resistor of the energy store is determined in second charge state. Aging state of the energy store is checked by using a reference and determined clamp resistors internal resistance size of the energy store. The aging states of the energy store are assigned as a function of charge state sizes of the energy store. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing aging state of an electrochemical energy store.
