The hospital bed (1) has a lifting device (2) which is fastened at the hospital bed, where a cantilever arm (4) is mounted in a movable manner such that a coupling point (K) is displaceable in the horizontal direction outside a lying area (3). The cantilever arm is pivoted around an axis (A1) which extends perpendicular to the lying area of the hospital bed. The cantilever arm is pivoted around another axis which extends parallel to the lying area of the hospital bed and perpendicular to the cantilever arm.
