The arrangement (10) has a set of battery cells (12) with a latent heat accumulator (28) comprising a phase change material (26) for cooling of the set of battery cells. A cooling unit is arranged for cooling the phase change material. The cooling unit is constructed as an evaporator (16) of an air conditioner, which is acted upon with refrigerants relaxed at an expander unit (14). The latent heat accumulator is in abutment with the evaporator. The latent heat accumulator is arranged with a bottom plate, which together with the battery cells form the arrangement. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a battery arrangement.
