The unit has multiple bent cantilevers (40) which are mounted at a distance from each other at opposite sides of a carrier of the transport unit, so that they project over the carrier. Multiple carrier elements (42) are introduced between two adjacent cantilevers. The cantilevers comprise an I-profile with two groove-shaped recesses. The carrier elements are introduced with their opposite ends from the outside into the opposite recesses of two adjacent cantilevers. An independent claim is included for a transport unit with inner- and outer carriers.
