The separator has a basic frame (1) located on a landing gear (3). An air separator (10) is secured on a work platform (2). The air separator produces cleaning air to a ventilator (21) that is located on the basic frame. The ventilator is connected to a safety filter (37), where the separator together with the safety filter is arranged downstream on the gear. Docking devices (5, 15), a tank car inlet, and terminals (17, 18) are arranged on the gear, where docking devices are adapted for silo discharge, and tank car inlet and terminal adapted for producing electric current and compressed air. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a mobile separator.
