The method involves pressing bolt-like joining auxiliary elements (500) into a seaming flange (310) of an upper metal sheet component (300) such that the pressed auxiliary elements are maintained at the flange. The upper metal sheet component and a lower metal sheet component (200) are positioned relative to each other and folded by folding a seaming panel (210) of the lower metal sheet component. The panel is pressed to form a fold plate on the flange of the upper metal sheet component, and the auxiliary elements are crimped with the folded panel by projecting the flange.
