The device (1) has an atomizer nozzle (11) for irradiating an application nozzle (15) with a mixture (9) from the air (5), a softener (7) and a suction unit (17) for extracting the mixture discharged from the atomizer nozzle. The suction unit has a filter (23), particularly a screen filter. The suction unit has a collecting container (25) downstream to the filter. A dosing unit (3) is provided for admixing the softener to the air of the atomizer nozzle in an upstream manner. An independent claim is included for a method for cleaning an application nozzle.
