The device has a feeding path (4) comprising a current path and a load path (6) that are connected in series in order to overcome electrical short circuit, overcurrent and a short-circuit release. Overload relays (10A, 10B) are connected with a shift element (12) i.e. multipolar contact switch, over a mechanical coupling for interruption of current paths. The feeding path is integrated at an input side and the load path integrated at an output side of a power distributor (2). Triggers are coupled to a same shift element.
