The top (12) has a folding top fabric (14) for partially covering an interior of a passenger car (10) in a closing position of the top. The fabric is stiffened in a front portion (28) by a stiffening element (26), which is coupled with the fabric. The stiffening element includes a textile layer i.e. fabric layer, which is formed by a textile element (30) i.e. fabric adhesive band. The textile layer is adhered with a lower side of the fabric in the portion. The stiffening element includes a seam, which is inserted in the fabric. A tie bar is connected with the fabric.
