The method involves heating a seat unit in a partial manner by a heating element of a seat heater (20). The temperature of the seat unit is computed by a computing device based on a physical model of the seat unit. The seat heater is operated depending on the computed temperature. The predetermined target temperature is compared with the computed temperature as the current temperature. The temperature is computed in dependence on an electrical output of the seat heater during its operation.
