The method involves adjusting the mirror heaters (7,9) based on the temperature by a pulse width modulated signal. The mirror heaters are controlled based on the mirror glass transition temperature. The mirror glass transition temperature is determined by the resistance ratio of a current resistance value of mirror glass of outside mirrors (3,5) and a normalized resistance value of the mirror glass. An independent claim is included for a motor car.
