The method involves immersing the single-cell battery (1) completely into a liquid (7). The changed level of the liquid and the change to the single-cell battery working force are evaluated for determining the volume of the single-cell battery. The liquid is included with an electrically non-conducting fluid such as deionized water. The working force on the single-cell battery is indirectly detected over a spring force sensor, and is directed to the spring force sensor over a deflection device of the battery. The lithium ion cell and pouch cell are used in the battery.
