The arrangement (100) has a guard system (104) for protecting a first sensor region (102a) and a second sensor region (102b) before an influence factor changes respective sensor enrichment socket characteristic. The first sensor region is activated for detecting physical size by a control device (106). The guard system is actuated such that the second sensor region is protected by the guard system. The second sensor region is activated for detecting the physical size, and actuates the guard system such that the second sensor region protects the first sensor region. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting physical quantity.
