The insulating element (1) has a mold (2) that is formed in predominant portion of foamed plastic material that consists of polyurethane or expanded polystyrene. The mold has a storage space (20) for receiving the blackout facility and a space (4) for receiving a fire protection latch (5). The fire protection latch is formed from non-combustible, flame retardant and/or heat-insulating material. The receiving space (4) is filled with the non-combustible, flame-retardant and/or insulating material for forming the fire protection latch. An independent claim is included for a building insulation structure.
