The device (10) has a pumping system (20) for driving the sample separation device in mobile phase, a separating unit (30) for separating the different fractions of the sample located in the mobile phase, and a movable actuator (80) that is provided downstream of the separating unit. A control device (70) is formed to interact with actuator in mobile phase such that the output of the separating unit remains in supercritical or liquid state due to the effect of the mobile phase. The actuator is formed as a piston and is arranged in a piston chamber (82).
