The projection surface (100) has a projection region radiating light of a first polarization direction incident from an incident space direction (102) into a first spatial direction (104)in a first opening angle. The projection region radiates light of second polarization direction incident from the incident space direction into second spatial direction (106) in a second opening angle. The first polarization direction and the second polarization direction are vertically aligned with respect to each other. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a head-up display for a vehicle (2) a method for projecting an image in a field of view of a driver of a vehicle (3) a method for manufacturing a volume hologram of a projection surface for a head-up display for a vehicle.
