The method involves driving a diaphragm pump (20) as a feed pump by using a magnetic coil (21). A defined amount of liquid is conveyed into a membrane of the diaphragm pump in a quiescent state. Time dissipations of liquid flow is determined based upon determined starting point of time by table codes or curves as a function of board voltage. A pressure indexing function is derived upon determination of the starting time of liquid flow from a time current course. The time course is used for determination of the starting time in the quiescent state. An independent claim is also included for a device for pressure indexing in a dosing system.
