The plant has a rotor (5) arranged at an upper end (3) of a tower (2). One or multiple generators (11) are arranged at a lower end (4) of the tower and mechanically coupled with the rotor by traction drives that are designed as cable drives (15, 17). The traction units i.e. steel cords (27, 33), of the traction drives comprise traction shafts, which are arranged at a distance from each other in a loop, where a rotating movement of one traction shaft is transferred to another traction shaft. The traction drives are arranged on opposing sides of the tower and along the tower.
