The device has a visible light generator (34) controlled by a processor to project a given image with visible light on a picture screen (31). An infrared light generator (35) is controlled by the processor, and generates scattered light in accordance with a contact of a user with an infrared light source. A projector (36) is controlled by the processor, and projects a visible light from the visible light generator and the infrared light source of the infrared light generator on the picture screen. An optical sensor (37) detects the scattered light, and is controlled by the processor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for detecting a multi-shed contact on a display with various shapes by using a display device (2) a non-volatile machine-readable medium comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for detecting a multi-shed contact on a display (3) a system for detecting a multi-shed contact on a display with various shapes in a vehicle.
