The bearing unit (1) has a bearing hub which is in operative connection with a joint bell of the transmission joint. The joint bell is led in a longitudinal bore (12) of the wheel bearing hub by clamping screw (11). The assembly aids ensure meshing of corresponding front serrations. The bearing hub as a fitting aid is associated with a resilient expansion sleeve (14) cooperating with the joint bell when reaching an end position. A supply port (16) is provided for releasing the clamping screw to a tooth in the gap position of the front serrations. An independent claim is included for method for connecting and disconnecting two components of wheel bearing unit.
