The gear box (10) has six torque-transmitting mechanisms that are selectively engaged to connect one of the three nodes (14A-14C,16A-16C,18A-18C,20A-20C) of planetary gear train elements (14,16,18,20). The torque-transmitting mechanisms are selectively engaged to establish a forward speed ratio between an input element (12) and an output element (22). The torque-transmitting mechanisms are connected selectively in four combinations such that nine additional forward speed ratios and one reverse speed ratio are produced between the input and output elements.
