The separator (1) has a bottom plate (5), a cylinder head cover (3), a seal for sealing the opening (9) formed in bottom plate, and an oil separation portion (11) for separating oil from blow-by gas. Several oil holders (17,19,21) are arranged for holding the oil separated from oil separation portion. Several gaps are formed between both sides of oil holder and two sidewalls of cylinder head cover, where a gap is larger than the other gap, and the oil holder with larger gap is arranged alternately with respect to the adjacent oil holder with larger gap.
