Timing strand covering structure for four-stroke multi-cylinder internal combustion engine of automobile, has reinforcing rib group integrally provided with inner and outer surfaces of front portion so as to surround insertion hole
The structure has a peripheral portion (30) provided with multiple fastening portions (31) that are secured to an engine body (1). A plate-shaped front portion (32) is connected to the peripheral portion for covering a timing transmission mechanism (T). An insertion hole (34) is formed for inserting a rotational shaft (6) in the front portion. A reinforcing rib group is integrally provided with inner and outer surfaces of the front portion so as to surround the hole. Tangential linear ribs overlap a projection portion in a periphery of the hole and form a part of the projection portion.
