The engine has a double-flow turbine comprising a running wheel (3) stored in a turbine housing (2) on a rotatable shaft (4). Two inlet openings (6, 7) comprise two flows (8, 9) of the turbine and connect the flows to the running wheel. The flows are separated from each other by a housing wall (5) such that the effluent streams of the flows to be conducted are disconnected from each other on the running wheel. The flows of the turbine within the housing are connected with one another by release of a bypass in upstream of the running wheel and in downstream of the inlet openings. The double-flow turbine is designed as an alternating current turbine or a twin current turbine.
