The device (1) has a die (5) provided with a compressible solid insert (6), where the compressible solid insert is displaced during punching of the die with a stamper (4) for forming a hole (2) in a composite component i.e. organic sheet (3) while supporting a hole edge (9) of the sheet. The solid insert is formed of an elastic material such as rubber or elastomer. The die includes a displacement space (7) in which the solid insert is displaced during the hole forming process, where the displacement space tapers conically in the insertion direction (8) of the stamper. An independent claim is also included for a method for introducing or expanding a hole in a composite component i.e. organic sheet.
