The filter has a porous ceramic matrix defining channels comprising an input face and an output face (15). The matrix is placed in a metal pipe (12). The pipe is equipped with an output cone (12a) allowing connection with an exhaust line (2) of a thermal engine. A retention unit (16) of the matrix is permeable with gases and placed in the pipe between the output face of the ceramic matrix and the output cone of the pipe. The retention unit is a steel grid placed perpendicular to the output face of the matrix.
