Method for detecting failure of oxygen probe downstream of catalyst of car, involves carrying out determining process to check whether response time of probe is greater than threshold response time to establish presence of failure
The method involves measuring an initial response time of an oxygen probe between a moment of a power injection of a vehicle and a time when a value of an output signal of the probe reaches a predetermined rate of a predetermined threshold oxygen level. The obtained charging time of the oxygen in the catalyst is subtracted from the time of filling of the oxygen in the catalyst. A determining process is carried out to check whether the response time of the probe is greater than a threshold predetermined response time to establish the presence of a failure.
