The device (1) has a crushing cylinder (3) rotatably mounted in a distribution hopper (2), and crushing knives (5) installed approximately and transversely on a axis (4) of the cylinder. The knives are mounted remotely from each other. A disentangling casing (6) is mounted between a lateral side of the hopper and one of the knives or between two close knives such that the casing is partially separated about the axis. The casing is rotated with the axis to maximum of a full rotation along direction, and is mounted eccentrically relative to the axis. An independent claim is also included for a method for adapting a crushing device to crush waste mixtures.
