The method involves collecting a history of events (S6) relative to a data processing machine i.e. networked server. A type of event to be supervised is chosen (S4), and a type of event is identified (S7) in the history of occurrences of events. A calculation value relating to the occurrences of the type of event is assigned (S10) to a selected duration. The steps of collection of history of events, choosing of the type of event, and assignment of the calculation value are repeated. A variation of the calculation value with regard to time is obtained (S11). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program comprising instructions for performing a method for monitoring a data processing machine (2) a computing device.
