The device (1) has a support element (2) rotatably movable around a rotation axis. A series of folding thrusts is formed by a support thrust (6), and receives strands (22) of a fire hose (20) by a set of secondary thrusts (7). An overall length of the hose is wound around the secondary thrusts that are increasingly distant from a straight line (X-X') at rotation from an opposite direction. The strands are made to rest on the support element to obtain the fire hose folded in hank by carrying out alternate successive rotations of the element along opposed directions. An independent claim is also included for a method for folding a fire hose in a hank by formation of laces.
