The mold (2) has a punch (6) and a die (4) for molding of a basic wall (10) of a thermoplastic household waste collection tray. A mobile molding core (16) is arranged distinct from the punch and the die. A displacement unit or piston (18) allows displacement of the core between an initial position and an advanced final position. A localized compression of a part of thermoplastic material is realized in the mold by displacement of the core between the initial and final positions. The core delimits a final position part of a cavity of a handling flange (14) of the tray in the mold. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for molding a tray (2) a tray.
